Committees - St. Louis Association of REALTORS®
The St Louis Association of REALTORS® offers a number of committees and task forces where members can get involved. These Association committees and task forces provide valuable services to the membership. Committees meet on a regular basis, while task forces often are created to work on specific issues. We encourage members to get involved with the Association. Contact the Association (314-576-0033) and let them know how you would be interested in serving. The following is a list of the committees at the Association:
Affiliate Committee (must be an Affiliate Member of the Association): Interact with other Affiliate members regarding issues that affect industries, such as mortgage companies, title companies, inspection companies, home warranty companies, and the overall real estate industry. - Staff Liaison: Patty Bommarito
Arbitration Committee: Conducts arbitration in an effort to resolve commission disputes. - Staff Liaison: Chris Woods
Contract and Forms Committee: Develops and revises the Association's standard real estate forms, and on-line contracts and forms. - Staff Liaison: Tessa Hultz
Education Committee: This committee oversees continuing education, interviews potential instructors, determines course curriculum, on-line education, seminars and new course offerings. - Staff Liaison: Tessa Hultz
Election Committee: Establishes annual election procedures, encourages candidates to run for office and acts as election officials. - Staff Liaison: Chris Woods
Equal Opportunity Cultural Diversity Committee: Openly discusses concerns regarding diversity and fair housing issues, helps members become diverse and better educated on the issues. Promotes the Fair Housing Practices of the Association through a variety of activities. - Staff Liaisons: Meggie Devereux, Margie West, Connie Chartier
Ethics and Professional Standards Committee: Acts upon an infraction of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. Must have served three years on Grievance to be a member (Limit 30 members). - Staff Liaison: Chris Woods
Governmental Affairs Committee: Promotes REALTOR® involvement in election campaigns, political affairs and government activities; reviews and monitors local, state and national legislation, which affects the real estate industry; organizes events to raise funds, which contribute to political candidates who are supportive of the real estate industry. - Staff Liaisons: Meggie Devereux, Margie West, Connie Chartier
Grievance Committee: Reviews and investigates grievances made against members to ascertain if there are alleged violations of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics (Limit 30 members). - Staff Liaison: Chris Woods
Issues Mobilization Committee: Promotes an understanding of member rights and duties under Federal, State, and local law. Reviews and refers matters that have broad national/state implications for members of the real estate industry to either the Missouri Association of REALTORS® or the National Association of REALTORS®, for funding from their legal action committees. - Staff Liaisons: Meggie Devereux, Margie West, Connie Chartier
Legal Action Committee: Provides legal assistance to members where litigation arises involving local government authority or the Missouri or Federal Courts due to the actions of the member taken at the direction of their governing bodies, in accordance with procedures, policies, or recommendations by the National Association and/or State Association. - Staff Liaisons: Meggie Devereux, Margie West, Connie Chartier
SLARPAC Committee: Is responsible for assisting with the legislative and political goals for the real estate industry. This is accomplished by allocating funds on an ongoing basis for attendance at political functions, and for donations to candidates for and incumbents in municipal, county and local state elected offices. The purpose of these allocations and resulting political contacts is to maximize the image, recognition and influence of the St. Louis Association of REALTORS®, its goals and objectives. - Staff Liaisons: Meggie Devereux, Margie West, Connie Chartier
Public Relations Committee: Promotes and publicizes the importance of using a REALTOR® to the public. Works to strengthen internal communications through the REALTOR® Report newsletter and special events, such as the REALTOR® Picnic, Holiday Open House, Career Awareness Fair and the Sold on St. Louis Luncheon. - Staff Liaison, Connie Chartier
REALTOR® Housing Assistance Fund: (RHAF): Raise funds through special projects and events to help benefit area homeless and those with housing needs. - Staff Liaison, Connie Chartier
State Director: Missouri Association of REALTOR® (MAR) State Director: Represent the welfare of the entire membership of the St. Louis Association of REALTORS® by becoming a State Director. State Directors are nominated by their local Association and elected by the State Association. Cannot miss two regularly scheduled Board of Directors meetings during each year of the two-year term. Note: Board of Directors meetings normally are held outside the St. Louis vicinity. State Directors are reimbursed $100 for attending each MAR Directors' meetings and $50 for attending MAR committee meetings. - Staff Liaison, Patty Bommarito
Urban Affairs Committee: Promotes and encourages city living within the City of St. Louis. Works with St Louis city schools, the Community Development Agency and the Mayor's office to assist REALTORS® in selling the benefits of St. Louis. - Staff Liaisons: Meggie Devereux, Margie West, Connie Chartier
